2016 - 2017: Ablode* - Future Vitality

Ablode* – Future Vitality is the first call under a broader project initiated by Nubuke Foundation titled Ghana Must Go. Ghana Must Go is an initiative to be implemented over a 3 year period through open calls, inviting project applications from artists and creatives.

Each open call will have its own theme. The first call for proposals for the project period January 2017 to September 2017, is titled ‘Ablode* – Future Vitality’. Ablode is an Eυe[ewe] word which loosely translates as Paradise.

Call for Artist Proposals

Ablode – Future Vitality:

This Initiative is born out of the premise that art and creativity are indispensable to the future of societies. As such, we yearn to use art to [re]imagine, envision and define our future. We seek to create new futures, straddling different planes where we explore, delve and propose critical redefinitions for all things. We are opening up a space that embraces experimentation and innovation – and we seek projects that have glimpses of utopic and tangible possibilities. Ablode – Future Vitality offers the opportunity to the selected applicant[s] to have access to funding (and other resources) to develop and execute a project over a 10 month period.

Who do we want?

This Initiative is open to all innovative creative ‘thinkers’ and ‘doers’ [living and working in Ghana] whose thoughts and actions are of relevance to the future of our society, and who desire to partake in creating an ‘Ablode* – Future Vitality’. What and who is Ghana to you? What future can you imagine for this physical space we call our own? ‘Ablode* – Future Vitality’ is a call that seeks to question, analyse, [re]imagine, co-opt, and remix Ghana as an idea, as a place and as a future, creating a tangible result from this journey. We will favour collaborative projects that infuse ideas from more than one field of human discipline. We ask you to keep it local, less by way of limitation, and more as an opportunity to explore the multiplicity of the state of our being, creating something meaningful for all who share in this place called Ghana.
